Hyperliquid’s Hypurr NFT Airdrop Sparks Security Concerns Amid $400K Hack
Hyperliquid's celebratory Hypurr NFT airdrop to early users has been marred by security breaches, with stolen assets worth $400K and growing unease about an upcoming $12B token unlock. The Layer-1 blockchain distributed 4,600 unique digital collectibles automatically to Genesis Event participants and contributors through HyperEVM on September 28th.
While intended as nostalgic mementos reflecting community culture, the NFTs quickly became targets. Analysts note the incident coincides with looming volatility risks from HYPE token vesting schedules. The Foundation retained 144 NFTs, with 143 allocated to project contributors—a distribution now scrutinized amid the exploit fallout.
